Week beginning Monday, 17 August
Interschool Cross Country
Congratulations to our interschool team for their fantastic effort. Millen placed 3rd this year.
Ed Connect
Earlier this year Millen joined Ed Connect (formerly known as The School Volunteer Program). This organisation trains and provides volunteers to work in schools as mentors or as learning support. This week we were able to get the program up and running.
We currently have five volunteers who each spend one hour per week mentoring a student. The purpose of the mentoring program is to provide one-on-one support to improve the confidence and social and emotional wellbeing of students who need a boost.
The mentors receive training through Ed Connect and work closely with the school to meet the needs of the children.
PEAC Testing
The Primary Extension and Challenge (PEAC) Testing will be going ahead as usual for all Year 4 students this year, however, the date is yet to be set. The parents and caregivers of all students in Year 4 will receive information about the testing once a timeline has been decided.
Play: Position Statement
This statement was presented to the School Board at last week’s AGM. It outlines Millen’s beliefs about play and explains the guiding principles of play at Millen. I would like to thank Noelene Johnston and the Play Policy Committee (consisting of staff and parents) for the work they put into developing this statement. Please take a few minutes to view the statement on our website:

School Communications via CONNECT
We believe there are still many families that are not accessing CONNECT. As this is the school’s main form of communicating specific notices to parents, and issuing student reports, we strongly encourage you to download the ConnectNow app and log-in.
If you need assistance, or have forgotten/lost your UserID, please contact us on 9264 7600 or see staff in the office.
Parking and Kiss & Drive areas:
We know that parking around the school is more challenging lately, but please be mindful of other cars waiting to access the Kiss & Drive drop off areas. Once your children are safely out of the car, please drive away from the area.
Treats for Dads – a P&C Father’s Day Fundraiser
A Connect notice was sent out on Friday with details about how to order some yummy home-made treats just in time for Father’s Day. Ordering is via the QuickCliq app, or you can collect a paper order form from the office.
