First Day Back to School – update – 29th April, 2020
We had a wonderful start to the term. Around 60% of our students attended school today and there were lots of smiling faces as they arrived. The children and staff were very happy to see each other. There were some great comments made at the school gates this morning. One student was heard saying “Mr Byron is a much better teacher than my mum!” and Ryla told us that she loves coming to school because she loves learning. We heard lots of stories about learning at home, Netflix, video games and even some about gardening. Well done to all of our parents and caregivers and thank you.
A big hello to all of our children and families at home! The Learning at Home with Millen Primary School program started today. We hope you enjoy completing the activities your teachers have prepared and we look forward to hearing from you soon.
In response to some feedback from parents, we have made some changes to our planned movie times. The children have now been organised into much smaller groups and the movie viewings will now take place over three days rather than one day. The children will watch one ‘G’ rated movie a week in the undercover area. This plan will continue over the next few weeks. I would like to thank you once again for your support.
Just a reminder, the State Government has directed parents and caregivers not to enter school grounds. Please refer to yesterday’s Katijiny for drop off and pick up arrangements. And for parents of children in Years 3 to 6, make sure you make clear arrangements about where you will meet your child at the end of the day.
