The Millen Way
Millen Primary became a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) school in 2015. The purpose of PBS is to establish a positive school culture in order to improve academic performance, increase safety, increase engagement and to decrease inappropriate and negative behaviour. Our school community began this program by identifying the core values we believe are important for our students to learn:
- RESPECT
- RESPONSIBILITY
- RESILIENCE
- EXCELLENCE
The Millen Way refers to the high expectations we have of ourselves, our students and our entire school community. Our new behaviour matrix (titled ‘The Millen Way’) describes positively stated behaviour expectations the students will be explicitly taught. These behaviours align with our values and will support the children to develop an understanding of what the values mean and what they look like in different contexts at school.
